What is the Cambridge CELTA
The Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) is the world’s most respected qualification for new and experienced English teachers. Awarded by Cambridge Assessment English, part of the University of Cambridge, it provides a practical foundation in effective language teaching. CELTA develops your classroom confidence through real teaching practice, professional observation, and continuous feedback from experienced trainers.
It is the benchmark qualification required by leading schools and education organizations worldwide. Trainees learn to plan and deliver engaging lessons, analyze language effectively, and support learners of all levels. By the end of the course, graduates are fully equipped to teach English to adults in diverse contexts across the globe.
At CenYing Teacher Training Centre in Taiwan, you receive the same Cambridge standards combined with dedicated local support. Our Cambridge-approved tutors coach you through every stage—from lesson planning to classroom delivery and reflection. With our structured guidance and real-world practice opportunities, you graduate ready to teach confidently anywhere in the world.

Why study CELTA in Taiwan?
Global qualification. Local relevance. Real classrooms.
- Training contextualised for Taiwanese learners and classrooms
- No travel or overseas accommodation required
- Easier alignment with Taiwan’s bilingual and EMI initiatives
- Local support before, during, and after the course
Studying CELTA face to face in Taiwan allows candidates to develop practical teaching skills in a familiar educational context. Teaching practice with local learners helps trainees understand classroom dynamics, learner expectations, and bilingual environments that are directly relevant to schools in Taiwan and East Asia.
A locally delivered CELTA also aligns more naturally with Taiwan’s bilingual and EMI direction. Teachers completing an in-person course meet expectations for classroom-based training and are better prepared to work in public schools, bilingual programmes, and regulated language centres.
For both local and international candidates, studying in Taiwan removes the cost and disruption of travelling abroad while providing ongoing local academic and professional support before, during, and after the course.
CELTA is awarded by Cambridge Assessment English and recognised by employers and education authorities worldwide.

Frequently asked questions
Yes. CELTA is designed for new teachers entering the field, but it is equally valuable for experienced teachers seeking to enhance their methodology and gain an internationally recognized qualification. At CenYing, mixed cohorts of new and experienced educators work together, sharing insights and receiving differentiated guidance. New teachers gain structure and confidence, while experienced teachers refine lesson delivery and student engagement strategies through peer collaboration and targeted feedback from tutors.
No. CELTA welcomes both native and non-native English speakers who can demonstrate a high level of English (CEFR C1 or IELTS 7.0 equivalent). CenYing provides a highly supportive environment for non-native English speakers, including additional pronunciation and language awareness workshops when needed. Our bilingual setting in Taiwan helps trainees understand learners’ challenges firsthand, which becomes a strength in their future teaching practice.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a level of education suitable for higher study, and possess advanced English proficiency. No teaching experience is required. CenYing’s application process includes a pre-course language awareness task and an interview with a Cambridge-approved tutor. Candidates receive personalized feedback and preparation tips to ensure they begin the course with clear expectations and confidence.
CenYing offers two options: a full-time four-week course (Monday–Friday, 9:00–17:30) and a ten-week part-time course (weekends and evenings). Both provide the same Cambridge qualification with identical input hours and teaching practice requirements. Our training centre’s modern facilities, flexible schedule options, and convenient Keelung–Taipei location make attendance manageable for both local and commuting trainees.
The course blends daily input sessions on language awareness and teaching techniques with six hours of assessed teaching practice. Trainees also complete four short written assignments and observe experienced teachers. At CenYing, a typical day includes morning teaching practice with adult learners, midday feedback sessions, and afternoon input workshops. Working with genuine Taiwanese learners offers trainees valuable experience in bilingual education contexts and practical classroom management.
CELTA is demanding and requires full commitment. Full-time trainees should not plan other work during the course. The part-time format allows limited flexibility but still requires consistent weekly preparation and evening study time. At CenYing, tutors help manage workload through daily planning sessions, reflection logs, and optional support hours to discuss lesson design or assignments. The program is challenging, but the strong guidance and peer encouragement make it a deeply rewarding experience.
Assessment is continuous through observed teaching and written assignments. Tutors provide regular feedback and support to help trainees meet Cambridge standards. CenYing maintains Cambridge’s rigorous quality while fostering a supportive assessment culture. Trainees receive mid-course tutorials to discuss progress, and written assignments may be resubmitted with tutor guidance if initial criteria are not met. Globally, the pass rate is over 99%, and almost all dedicated trainees succeed.
Yes. CenYing provides information and assistance with local accommodation options for trainees traveling from other cities or countries. We partner with nearby serviced apartments, student guesthouses, and budget hotels near Keelung Station. Yes. CELTA is recognized globally and valued by employers including the British Council, international language schools, and bilingual programs. It signals practical competence and Cambridge quality. As an authorised Cambridge centre, CenYing’s affiliation adds an extra layer of trust. Tutors remain available for short consultations, and alumni are invited to join CenYing’s teaching network for continued growth and job opportunities.
